THE MAN:

IDORENYIN JAMES UMO

The name, “Idorenyin” connotes an attitude of unrelenting hope of a people whose destiny in God is great. Akwa Ibom is optimistic and very desperate of this enigma that comes with hope of assuaging the aspiration, yearnings and desires of the people especially, at the brink of stepping into the prophetically promised land that flows with milk and honey and so this defining moment is strategic in the annals of the development of the State. The founding fathers had fought for and died without obtaining the promise because the vision was waiting for the appointed time.
Like Abraham, “who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken…” (Romans 4:18), Hon. Idorenyin James Umo, a gubernatorial candidate of Labour Party in Akwa Ibom State during the 2011 Governorship race believes that God designed Akwa Ibom to be a great State strategically endowed for excellence and glory in spite of the many faceted challenges and setbacks it has experienced. Even though successive governments have laid the foundation and put up some structures in place for the collective good of the people over the years, yet, Idorenyin is deeply convinced that there are still much more to be done and for this purpose, it behooves him to drive the process that will be a totally people-oriented governance come 2023. Inspired by the words of Eleanor Roosevelt that, “the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” Hon. Idorenyin Umo hereby surrenders himself to contest for the governorship of Akwa Ibom State 2023.
